Blended Learning Quality-Concepts Optimized for Adult Education (AE)

Project LogoThe project Blended Learning Quality-Concepts Optimized for Adult Education focused on the development of innovative Blended Learning Quality Concepts for adult education and professional training environments. Implemented as a Multilateral Grundtvig Project, the initiative aimed to establish structured quality standards for blended learning methodologies, addressing both pedagogical quality and organisational frameworks in technology-enhanced education. The European Initiative for Education (EIE) participated as a consortium member and was responsible for the project management and coordination of several dissemination and development activities.

The international consortium worked on the development of measurable quality standards for planning, implementing, evaluating, and validating blended learning courses. The project addressed key aspects of modern blended learning environments, including trainer competencies, learner support, eLearning platforms, communication structures, tutorial systems, project management, and learner-centred evaluation processes. Special emphasis was placed on defining realistic and applicable quality frameworks that could be transferred into adult education practice across Europe.

A significant contribution to the project was made by Peter Mazohl, who prepared the original project proposal on behalf of the University of Rome. In addition, he was responsible for the conceptual development of the final publication and dissemination framework of the project. His work focused on transforming theoretical quality approaches into practical and applicable guidelines for educational institutions and trainers working in blended learning contexts.

The project also contributed to the development of sustainable educational resources and dissemination activities. One of the major outcomes emerging from the initiative was the publication of the book Blended Learning Quality, which further expanded the methodological and practical foundations developed during the project and supported the wider implementation of quality-oriented blended learning approaches in adult education.

The project findings and methodologies contributed significantly to the professionalisation of blended learning in Europe and supported the development of learner-oriented quality assurance frameworks for digital and hybrid education.
